Ododo seeks stronger foreign affairs collaboration to attract investment into Kogi

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has intensified efforts to position the state as a destination for foreign investment, calling for closer collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attract international investors, development partners and strategic economic alliances.

The governor made the appeal while receiving the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye, during a courtesy visit in Abuja, where both leaders pledged to leverage economic diplomacy to showcase Kogi’s investment opportunities to the global community.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Ododo said Ambassador Enikanolaye’s appointment presents an opportunity to strengthen Kogi’s international engagement and unlock new channels for investment-led growth.

The governor described the minister as a seasoned career diplomat whose extensive experience in international relations would enhance Nigeria’s global engagement while creating opportunities to attract foreign direct investment and development partnerships to Kogi State.

Ambassador Enikanolaye said he was committed to supporting the state’s economic transformation agenda by facilitating strategic international partnerships capable of driving investment, infrastructure development and job creation.

“I’ve come to formally align with Your Excellency’s vision for Kogi State and to assure you of my readiness to work with your administration in building strategic partnerships that will attract investments and open greater opportunities for our people. Kogi has immense potential, and I’m committed to supporting every effort to project those opportunities to the international community,” he said.

He added that the state’s improving security environment and ongoing development initiatives provide a stronger foundation for attracting investors and expanding economic opportunities across key sectors.

Responding, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deepen international cooperation, promote Kogi’s investment potential and secure partnerships that will stimulate sustainable economic growth.

“Our administration will continue to engage accomplished sons and daughters of Kogi serving in strategic positions across the country and beyond. Together, we’ll build stronger partnerships, attract investments and create more opportunities for our people,” the governor said.

Ododo noted that Kogi’s strategic location, abundant mineral resources, agricultural potential and expanding infrastructure make it well-positioned to benefit from increased foreign investment and international development cooperation.

He also congratulated Ambassador Enikanolaye on his appointment, describing it as recognition of his distinguished diplomatic career and expressing confidence that his experience would strengthen Nigeria’s economic diplomacy while helping to project Kogi as an attractive investment destination.
