The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) has ushered in a new leadership team, with Engr. Yetunde Taiwo of FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company assuming office as president, succeeding Akachukwu Nwokedi.
The transition was formalised during the association’s executive council handover ceremony held on April 24 at the NGA Secretariat in Lagos, where industry stakeholders reaffirmed the association’s role in advancing Nigeria’s gas sector development.
Taiwo will lead a new executive council that includes Olufisayo Duduyemi, Managing Director of Axxela Integrated Power, as First Vice President; Engr. Chichi Emenike of Neconde Energy Limited as Second Vice President; Oladeji Olaoti of Falcon Corporation Limited as Secretary General; and Osaze Isesele, who assumes the role of Publicity Secretary.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat and immediate past NGA president, who underscored the strategic alignment between the association and Nigeria’s gas expansion agenda.
In his farewell remarks, Nwokedi said the association’s leadership requires sustained commitment and urged the incoming council to build on existing reforms to deepen NGA’s influence as the leading advocacy platform for Nigeria’s gas industry.
He commended the outgoing council, the NGA Secretariat led by Executive Secretary Taji Ogbe, industry partners and members for their contributions toward strengthening the association’s policy advocacy and sector engagement.
In her acceptance speech, Taiwo pledged to consolidate on the gains of previous administrations by strengthening collaboration across the gas value chain, advancing policy dialogue and positioning the association to support investment growth.
Isesele, speaking on his appointment as Publicity Secretary, said his focus would be on strengthening strategic communications, deepening media engagement and amplifying investment opportunities within Nigeria’s gas sector.
A strategic communications specialist, Isesele currently serves as Digital Marketing Manager for Africa at GEP, where he has led content and digital campaigns for major industry platforms across the continent.
For over three decades, the NGA has served as a key industry advocacy platform, promoting policy reform, investment attraction and domestic gas utilisation as central pillars of Nigeria’s industrialisation and energy security ambitions.
