Dangote strengthens logistics compliance with N500,000 whistleblower incentive

Dangote Industries Limited has launched a nationwide whistleblower programme aimed at curbing illegal haulage involving its branded trucks, offering a N500,000 cash reward to individuals whose credible information leads to the arrest of offenders or the recovery of unauthorised goods.

The initiative forms part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen logistics compliance, safeguard its supply chain and eliminate the misuse of Dangote-branded vehicles for unauthorised commercial activities.

In a statement issued in Lagos, and made available to NewsNexis Africa, the company urged members of the public to report any suspected cases of illegal haulage, stressing that trucks belonging to its subsidiaries are designated to transport only approved products.

According to the company, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to transport cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while trucks operated by Dangote Sugar Refinery are restricted to sugar products.

Vehicles belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are approved only for the transportation of Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging trucks are designated for bags and other packaging materials.

Similarly, trucks operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are authorised to transport polypropylene products, while those belonging to Dangote Fertiliser Limited are restricted to the haulage of urea fertiliser.

The company warned that any Dangote truck found conveying unauthorised goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage, adding that drivers and owners of such cargo could face arrest, confiscation of goods and prosecution under applicable laws.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company said.

To facilitate investigations, Dangote urged whistleblowers to provide detailed information, including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, colour of the vehicle and photographs where available.

The company said dedicated reporting hotlines have been established across its operations to receive information on suspected illegal haulage, including incidents involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.

Dangote also disclosed that law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been empowered to arrest drivers found using company trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against logistics-related fraud, the company said the whistleblower programme is intended to protect its assets, strengthen transparency and accountability, and promote compliance throughout its nationwide transportation network.

It called on the public to support the initiative by reporting suspected violations, noting that public cooperation remains critical to preserving the integrity of its logistics operations and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
